An original play inspired by interviews with older people and teenagers in Abbey with local drama group A Piece of Cake.
Creative Facilitator: Caroline Rippin
Director: Patrick Morris
Facilitator, Caroline Rippin, ran ‘A Piece of Cake’ for 3 years, developing confidence and skills with a group of young mothers in Abbey, Cambridge. Talkin’ ‘Bout My Generation was the culmination of this work, and we published a book which documented the project.
Talkin’ ‘Bout My Generation is a play about being old and being young Made and performed by local residents for people of all ages! … It invites your ideas of how to create a better community for us all here in Abbey
Is there a communication breakdown between older and younger people?
What can the old and the young learn from each other?
Does technology help or hinder?
How can we build bridges and improve our community for all generations?
“The trouble is with the younger generation is they’re not brought up to a certain standard.”
“Well I just feel like we don’t talk cos there’s nothing we can, like, talk about, ‘cos, like, we’re very different”.
