Young Writers’ Workshop 2025 Applications are now OPEN!
Menagerie’s annual writer development programme for writers aged 18-30 from the East of England are once again open! We will be taking on 8 young writers to work with them for 3 months to develop their skills as a playwright, and to create an entirely new piece of work.

Free Public Art Workshops this Novemeber
Kicking off our 2024/25 Pulic Art project The Trials of Democracy: Who Gives an XXXX?, we’re hosting 3 workshops throughout November exploring and asking questions around the topic of democracy: what does it mean to you, do you understand it, is it any good?
Join us at our free workshops to discuss and debate democracy, take part in activities led by visual artsit Hilary Cox Condron, and Menagerie Co-Artistic Director Patrick Morris.
Albatross by Martha Loader: Touring 2025
Following the success of it’s preview performance at Hotbed 2024, Albatross is planning to tour next year, both regionally and in London.
Albatross is Martha’s latest work, commissioned by and developed alongside Menagerie Theatre. Martha has also seen great success with her play Bindweed, which toured to The Mercury Theatre, The New Wolsey, and The Arcola. Read the five star review for Bindweed here.

Totally Fine at the Hen & Chickens Theatre, London
Young Writer Alumnus, Susanna Wolff, is taking her Hotbed debut show Totally Fine to the Hen & Chickens Theatre in 2025! You can see Totally Fine on Februray 27th & 27th, and March 1st.
Susanna developed this work initally as part of her time on the Young Writers’ Workshop programme in 2024, she then went on to perform this piece as the closing show of Hotbed 2024.
Menagerie Supporters Scheme is having a refresh
We launched Menagerie Supporters in November 2021 and have been so grateful for the support we have recieved over that time! However, we felt that there was smething missing from the scheme, so we are busy working with our trustee, Kay Blaney, to be able to offer our Supporters more in return for their contribution. We hope to action these plans this Autumn…

Toy Stories by Chris Dobrowolski will be going on tour
Toy Stories, written and performed by Chris Dobrowolski will be going on tour following it’s stay the Pleasance Attic for Edinbrugh Fringe 2024!
Part stand-up comedy, part performance lecture, TOY STORIES takes the audience on an irreverent, powerful and hilarious storytelling adventure through art, contemporary politics, twentieth-century history and ...scalextric! It got a wonderful review from Brighton Fringe. In the meantime, here’s a trailer for the piece!
